Infraestructuras de Datos Espaciales

Spreading of geographic information carried out by public administrations has an undeniable reference framework: SPATIAL DATA INFRASTRUCTURES, SDIs.

An SDI can be defined as an Internet based managed geographic data and services’ collection that are described in their metadata. It follows standards, that regulate and guarantee interoperability, and agreements that allow users, by means of a simple browser, find, display, access and combine geographic information according to their needs.

GSDI Association takes in organisms, companies and people all over the world with the purpose of stimulating international cooperation and collaboration in the development of data spatial infrastructures at a local, national or international level.

INSPIRE directive is a compulsory reference for the administrations of European Union state members in the deployment of a Spatial Data Infrastructure.

14/2010 Law concerning Spanish geographic infrastructures and information services (LISIGE) incorporates INSPIRE directive into Spanish law and defines the National Cartographic System, that is the framework for the treatment of geographic information. Besides, it designs its operating lines based on the cooperation between different Administrations and on a free spreading of geographical information through the IDE.
