IDENA cover

IDENA is a fundamental milestone in the history of SITNA. It represents the Government of Navarra's clear intentions for SITNA to incorporate the requirements defined by the INSPIRE Directive aiming to establish a European Spatial Data Infrastructure.

Not only does it represent Navarra's full acceptance of INSPIRE's principles, but it also shows an opening up of the System to anyone else, by using services that meet certain specifications and rules shared with the whole geographic community.

One of the services offered by the Spatial Data Infrastructure for Navarra is the Metadata catalogue. This service comprises a search engine for SITNA's public geographic data. The standard protocol used by the Catalogue or Search engine is called the CSW service (Catalogue Service Web) that has been defined by the Open Geospatial Consortium. Using this service, visitors to the geoportal can search this catalogue and access the complete metadata for each information layer.

It is also possible to access SITNA maps offered through a WMS servicewhich allows them to be integrated into other maps if they share the same standard.

SITNA is participating intensely in developing and implementing SDI initiatives. As an example we could quote Navarra's active collaboration with the IDEE Work Group that aims to create the Spatial Data Infrastructure for Spain or participate in several SDI projects as part of a consortium with other European partners (CROSS-SIS, GRISI, EURADIN or Nature SDI+).

The Pamplona City Council published IDE Pamplona in March 2006, a pioneer in the local field and a reference point for harmonious integration of local and regional levels.
